This section of the NurseLogic lesson was very helpful in reinforcing what we have learned in our Adult Health and Health Assessment classes. We’ve been taught the ABC’s of nursing – Airway, Breathing, and Circulation, but we haven’t yet taken a deep dive into what each of those entail. For example, we had a question that prioritized a patient with diarrhea as the dehydration can affect circulation, which really helped in reframing how deep the ABC’s can go. I learned that it’s important to look past the “knee-jerk” kind of questions that we as nursing students are given. They may give an answer where ‘cardiac’ is mentioned in the patients history, leading you to believe that would apply to ABC, but then they reveal that the cardiac history has nothing to do with the chief complaint. I think practice questions like these are very helpful in that decision making process of who to see first, as that is a decision that we will have to make more and more quickly as we continue to practice.

First, your sight looks really good! Secondly, another nice reflective piece. I have no doubt Elijah that you are going to offer a lot to the nursing profession!
